Hadshi Lake – All you Should Know

Hadshi Lake is located in the midst of Sahyadri Mountains and it surrounded by them on all the four sides. It can be reached from Mumbai or Pune and is near to Lonavala, Kamshet and Hinjewadi. (20kms from Mumbai Expressway – Lonavala Exit or 25 Kms from Lonavala or Hinjewadi – Pune) at an elevation of approx. 630mtrs above sea level which is above Lonavala (624mtrs). The average rainfall in Hadshi is approx. 1800mm. The place is best visited during the period of June to February. Though the place is cool throughout the year and serves as a pollution free, scenic and serene destination away from the rural grind. Nearby visits include Hadshi Lake Boating, Hadshi Temple, Tikona Fort, Chinmay Vibhooti, Girivan, Pavna Lake etc.

Hadshi Temple aka Sri Satya Sai Pandurang Kshetra Temple was built by Shri. Shivajirao Jadhav a disciple of Shri Satya Sai Baba in 2009 and was visited by the Late Shri Satya Sai Baba in the same year. The Visit was greeted by thousands of disciples and the pictures of the same can be seen at the temple. The entire area around the temple is approx. 300 acres with a lawn of approx. 4 acres in front of the temple.The Lawns have trees and pergolas located in them.

The Temple has statues of Lord Vithal and Rukmini and there is also a small Ganesh temple. The road to the temple is adorned with lots of trees including Mangoes, coconuts and various flowers.

The Sant Darshan Exhibit is a must visit and is one of the unforgettable experiences that once can treasure.The idols here have been sculpted by Shri. Ganesh Kumbhar from Urli Kanchan. The idols have a life like look and some even have moment to depict the historical significance. These exhibits depict the lives of famous saints from Maharashtra.

The Temple premises also has a shop selling curios and organic rice and sugar from local farms. There is also a small restaurant at the gate that serves cool sugarcane juice and some local condiments like bhel etc.

Tikona Fort – The origins of this fort is not know but it was captured first by the Nizam Shahi Dynasty in 1585 and was a part of the Nizams strategic stronghold on the Konkan Region. The fort along with Lohgad was seized by Shivaji Maharaj bringing the entire Pawana Maval Region under his control.

The Trek to the fort begins from the parking lot at the south of the fort. The Trek is considered safe and the route has trees along the way. The best time to begin the trek is at sunrise so that the sun does not exhaust the trekking team. The route does have trees at various places. Try to avoid big groups as the route at certain places are narrow and cause waiting to get a pass through. The adventurous ones can make an overnight stay in the caves near or at the top of the fort. Those coming in from Kamshet can also visit the Bedse caves.

Chinmay Vibhooti was built in 2012 by the Chinmaya Trust and its current head Swami Tejomayananda to acknowledge the fact that its founder Shri Swami Chimayananda had give his first discourse at a small Ganesh temple in the small place. A Temple of Lord Ganesha known as Pranav Ganesh Temple was built at the same spot to cherish this great event. The 5.2 feet tall, beautiful and pristine white marble idol of Lord Ganesha can been seen at the pranav ganesh temple. The Temple has  beautiful granite flooring and majestic ceilings and is located on a high hill making it a very scenic viewpoint.The place has a Hanuman Mandir made of pink Bansipur stone with some intricate carvings on its walls, while the idol of Lord Hanuman is made of pure, white marble. Chinmay Vibhooti spans an area of approx. 65 acres and has various facilities for camps and staying for its visitors and staff.

Girivan is a privately-owned hill station located near Hadshi and is located at an elevation above Lonavala. The spot offers various sporting activities like rain dance, rifle shooting etc. The activities including Lunch and Tea is covered in a day pass that can be purchased at the entrance of the park. The place is considered as a one-day picnic spot and is surrounded by lots of green areas. The climate here is cool throughout the year.

Pawna Lake is located at a distance of approx. 10kms from Hadshi lake an is considered a campers paradise for its vast expansive lake and green carpeted spans. The lake forms from waters through the western ghats and has an earth filled dam that helps store waters to serve the Pimpri Chinchwad area as a primary reservoir. The place is frequented by picnickers from Lonavala, Mumbai and Pune. There are Paragliding activities at Pawna and can be offered via prior bookings.

Mulshi taluka holds the mulshi river which originates from the mula river and also has a dam. Water from the river is used for irrigation and power generation by Tata Power. The location is very scenic eco-tourism spot and is one of the attractions to be visited in Western Maharashtra. Mulshi is a taluka that houses the famous Hinjewadi IT City and Lavasa.
